Carbon Efficiency is an essential value in determining the environmental impact of a product, as it takes both the product’s lifespan and the space used into account.
What is an LCA?
A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) calculates the environmental footprint of a product throughout its life.
What is an EPD?
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardised document that provides information about a product’s environmental and human health impact.
How do I apply for a dc certificate?
You need the following data and assessment for certifications:
– Completed Submission form Schematic Drawing
– General Assembly Drawing
– dc050 Stationary Appliance Test
– UKCA Declaration of Conformity
The submission form is typically provided in Excel format and covers:
– Product name, product number, size in m2 and anticipated usage in years
– Materials, by type and weight
– % of materials designed for deconstruction
– % of materials designed for reuse
– % of materials that are reused
– % of materials that can be recycled
– % of materials form sustainable sources, such as FSC
General assembly drawings must include the following data as a minimum.
– Drawing number
– Overall dimensions
– Ventilation for electrical items
– Access for maintenance
– Point of isolation
– Bill of materials and quantities
Electrical schematics must include the following data as a minimum.
– Drawing number
– Parts by manufacturer part code and quantity
– Components used in mains connectivity
– Isolation point with fuse rating
– Fuse and cable ratings
– Total load in watts
– Eco-label rating of the LED’s or Screens
– Safety instructions
– Installation instructions
Manufactures may also be required to provide specifications of equipment that is not already dc approved.
dc050 stationary appliance test
An electrical test and inspection must be carried out by a dc appoint electrical inspector who will complete the test.
UKCA or CE declaration of conformity, must include the following details but for more details see our design guidance
– Name and address of manufacturer
– Name and product number of product
– Relevant directives that are applicable to the product
– Testing standards that have been carried out to adhere to directions
– Company directors signature of the manufacturer

If all the correct information has been provided it typically takes 5 working days to complete the certificate which will be provided in PDF format.

What are scope 1 emissions?
Scope 1 refers to direct emissions that are owned or controlled by the organisation. This may include the combustion of fossil fuels, industrial processes, and transportation.
What are scope 2 emissions?
Scope 2 refers to the indirect emissions created from energy acquisition from external providers, such as a utility company. Although Scope 2 emissions are not produced by the reporting company, the entity is still indirectly responsible for those emissions.
What are scope 3 emissions?
Scope 3 refers to the indirect emissions created by an organisation’s activity. There are 15 different categories in Scope 3, including purchased goods or services, business travel, a product’s end of life, and the use of a sold product.
